Welcome!

Hi i'm Michelle and welcome to my teaching blog. I hope your enjoy reading about my experiences in the classroom as much as I have enjoyed writing about them :)

Teaching Philosophy

As I am only beginning my teaching career It is hard to set in stone a teaching philosophy. What I have written can change as my teaching career progresses, but for now this is what I hope to achieve in my classroom.

Philosophy
My role as an educator is to assist and facilitate learning. My aim is to recognize each child in the class as unique individuals who develop at varying rates towards their fullest potential. In catering for development I will guide each child through stages of development and skills as determined by their readiness, but at the same time expose them to experiences which will provide revision and extension.

The learning environment is a combination of child centred and teacher directed learning. My aims in this environment is to give children increased responsibility for their own learning and encourage them to set themselves high personal standards. In using this system I believe that children can become autonomous and independent learners. Group work is important in developing the social skills of the students by working together, they will learn to respect the rights of others and accept each individual as a unique and special person who has a part to play.

My aim overall aim is to provide a supportive classroom environment based on trust and respect so children can feel secure. In this environment I as the teacher can develop happy, self-reliant learners and create a classroom which allows optimum learning to take place.
